2021 Vinum Africa Reserve Syrah

A fresh approach to Syrah from the Greater Cape region, this wine derives its character largely from its elegant spice and fynbos aromas. Vinum Africa Reserve Syrah 2021 is an interesting combination of ripe red fruits and cured meat flavours, as well as a grippy, yet supple texture. In an age where Syrah is known for making big, polished and powerful, often sweet fruited wines, Vinum Africa has chosen the path less travelled by showing a strained and subtle expression of one of the Cape’s most exciting varieties. Grapes in this Syrah were picked by hand in the cool of the morning and then hand sorted with particular focus on excluding any raisins or berries which had seen too much sun. This careful selection was made so that the natural purity of the African fruit could be highlighted. This Syrah’s ripe red fruit and meaty notes pair well with elegant meals of roast pork, lamb stew and venison.
