The Ocho (Spanish for eight) represents the furthest evolution of Bacardi's oak barrel aging philosophy — where Bacardi Gold is approximately one year and Añejo Cuatro is four years, the Reserva Ocho doubles the Cuatro's aging time in specially selected reserve rum barrels. Eight years in oak develops a significantly more complex dried fruit character (prune and apricot replacing the fresher stone fruit of shorter-aged expressions), more integrated vanilla and nutmeg from deep oak penetration, and a refined smoothness that makes it genuinely suitable for sipping neat. The reserve barrel selection ensures that only barrels with exceptional aged character are used.
