This wonderful edition of the Big Peat from Douglas Laing was Whisky Drop's Peat Club selection in the fall of 2023.
If you're thinking that red wine goes better with steak ... well think again because The Smokehouse Edition is a blend of terrific Islay single malts (including a drop or two of the iconic Port Ellen) many of which have been finished in full-bodied red wine casks. Sounds like a winner to us.
Nose: Blackberry, damp forest floor, oak spices, vanilla and a hit of tobacco..
Palate: Big beefy smoke, back bacon cooked in cast iron, and stewed stone fruits.
Finish: Rich, creamy and long lasting with a white pepper finish.
