Blanton’s Original Single Barrel offers a beautifully balanced bourbon profile with a sweet and spicy harmony. On the nose, you’ll find creamy vanilla, caramel, and butterscotch, layered with citrus peel and baking spices such as clove and nutmeg. The palate brings raisin, caramel, orange zest, and mild oak, supported by a touch of honey and brown sugar sweetness and a subtle spicy undertone that keeps the sip lively. The finish is of medium length, with burnt sugar, soft vanilla, oak tannins, and a hint of rye spice or pepper lingering. 

History
Blanton’s holds a special place in bourbon lore as the world’s first commercially released single barrel bourbon, launched in 1984 under Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee. The brand is named after Colonel Albert B. Blanton, a long-standing leader at what is now the Buffalo Trace Distillery, who famously handpicked private barrels for guests and family. The “Original Single Barrel” edition is drawn from the middle cut of Warehouse H, a distinctive metal-clad rickhouse on the Buffalo Trace grounds, historically favored for its rapid maturation properties. Its exclusivity was once reserved for dignitaries and Colonel Blanton’s private guests but today, Blanton’s is available to all, while still maintaining strong collector appeal.
