A restrained and classic wine with graphite, dark fruit, vibrant violets, smoke and incense. Joyful palate with a smooth texture, velvety tannins, a medium body, crisp acidity and an austere finish that’s well covered by the fruit. A wine intended for aging. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.

The 2022 Chianti Classico Riserva is terrific. Dark and enveloping, the 2022 offers great depth in a fairly plush style that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. Succulent dark cherry, plum, new leather, liquorice and incense are nicely turned up. The 2022 is all charm.

Tasting Notes

Intense, medium to full-bodied wine. Long bouquet of cherry, black fruit and a continuum of spice, leather, tar and tilled earth. The mouthfeel is equal parts structured, fresh and succulent.

Pair with: Grilled meat, roast or braised beef and veal, stewed dishes, grilled fish and pasta dishes with strong tasting sauces.

About the Wine

Brancaia Chianti Classico Riserva is produced from the best Sangiovese grapes from Brancaia and Poppi and then blended with a touch of Merlot.

Our Riserva is made from our best Sangiovese grapes. This medium to full-bodied wine shows the elegance and charm of this classic Tuscan grape variety and reveals a finesse that certainly does justice to this historical denomination. Aromas such as cherry, spices, leather and chocolate harmonize perfectly with each other. The Sangiovese matures in tonneaux for 16 months, while the Merlot is matured in barriques. The cuvée matures in the bottle for at least another year after bottling.

Blend: 80% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot
