About the Wine

The Chianti Classico Riserva is made from a selection of the finest San Giovese grapes from our Chiesanuova vineyards in San Casciano Val di Pesa, near Florence. A ruby-colored wine with garnet highlights as it ages, it features the typical Chianti violet aromas and a warm, elegant, and slightly tannic flavor.

Winery Notes

Angelo Oreste Simoncini, born in Montespertoli (Florence) in 1872, began his farming career at the end of the 19th century as a producer of straw for hats and, with the help of around sixty seasonal workers, transformed the straw into braid for the production of the “Florence hat” known throughout the world.

Initially, it used a small plot of land it owned, along with rented plots for straw sowing. On July 5, 1912, it purchased the buildings in the "Casa di Monte" area of Montespertoli, along with approximately 10 hectares of land, which now constitute the company headquarters. The main building consists of a watchtower dating back to the year 1000, expanded between the 14th and 18th centuries and converted into rural dwellings. In 1924, straw production for hats ceased due to the arrival on the market of competing products from Asia.  The farm thus replaced cereal crops with new plantings of vines and olive trees. In the same year, it purchased additional land adjacent to the original farm. In 1973, the company passed by will to the current owners, who thus began direct farming.  Between 1997 and 1999, the property extended over 54 hectares, with a distinct focus on viticulture, typical of the Chianti region.

In 2000, the Casa di Monte agricultural company was established with its own brand that distinguishes its products and its agritourism .

In 2002 the company acquired 21 hectares of land in the “Le Capitozze” area in the municipality of S. Casciano Val di Pesa, a production area of Chianti Classico DOCG wine.

Today the company consists of a total of 80 hectares of owned land, of which 35 hectares, 5 hectares of vineyards for the production of IGT red and white wines and Chianti, Chianti Montespertoli and Chianti Classico DOCG wines and 7 hectares of specialized olive groves for the production of extra virgin olive oil.
