CRAGGANMORE SINGLE MALT 12YEAR 80PROOF 750mL

Cragganmore 12 Year is a classic Speyside single malt that serves as the flagship bottling of the Cragganmore distillery, which was founded in 1869 in Ballindalloch, Scotland.

It is crafted from malted barley and matured in oak casks (primarily second-fill bourbon barrels), resulting in a whisky that balances elegance and subtle complexity.

In Diageo’s “Classic Malts” lineup, it represents the Speyside region, highlighting lighter, floral, malty characteristics rather than the heavier smoke of Islay malts.

Suggested serving is neat or with just a drop of water (or on the rocks in a tumbler or tulip glass) to help unlock more aromatic complexity.

It has earned multiple awards over the years in spirit competitions.

Tasting Notes

Appearance

  • Color / Hue: Pale gold to light copper.

Nose (Aroma)

  • Bright floral notes — wildflowers, heather, riverside herbs.

  • Honey, vanilla, light citrus oil (orange / lemon peel) and sweet orchard fruits (apple, pear).

  • Nutty / almond / biscuity character, malted barley aroma.

  • A whisper of wood smoke or sandalwood, and subtle vegetal / hay notes.

Palate (Taste / Mid-Palate)

  • Smooth, medium-bodied, with a clear malty foundation.

  • Honeyed sweetness with orchard fruits (pear, apple) and caramel or toffee hints. Nutty (almonds, walnuts, chestnuts) and biscuit / graham-cracker notes.

  • Subtle spice, a hint of oak, and light smoke or sandalwood influence.

Finish

  • Long, malt-driven finish with lingering sweetness and a gentle smoky edge.

  • Delicate peppery spice and oak notes may emerge toward the end.

  • Some versions mention residual almond bitterness or dryness.
