Black currant, crushed stone and black licorice lead into earthy notes of bark, mushroom and fresh herbs. Blue-fruit flavors ride over fine, stony tannins on a fresh, gravelly palate. It is already expressive, though further bottle age should bring greater integration and detail.
Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville Ranch give this wine dark, brooding fruit with tobacco, crushed stone and mocha accents. The palate is intense and concentrated yet remains silky and elegant through the finish. Its balance of power and refinement makes it a particularly compelling La Magdalena.
