Gran Patrón Piedra is the tahona-exclusive extra añejo in the Gran Patrón ultra-premium line — 100% Blue Weber agave crushed exclusively by the traditional volcanic stone tahona wheel without any roller mill blending, aged four years in a combination of French Limousin and new American oak barrels, and presented in a distinctive crystal decanter that reflects the production intensity and rarity of the expression.
'Piedra' means stone in Spanish — a direct reference to the tahona, the two-ton volcanic stone wheel that slowly crushes roasted agave piñas to extract juice and fiber. While standard Patrón expressions blend tahona-crushed and roller-mill distillates, Gran Patrón Piedra uses only tahona-crushed agave. The tahona process is slower, more labor-intensive, and more expensive than the roller mill — and it produces a distinctly creamier, more complex agave character with more of the roasted agave fiber contributing to the final spirit. Four years of aging in French Limousin and new American oak then adds vanilla, dried fruit, spice, and the depth that extended barrel contact develops.

Both are extra añejo Gran Patrón expressions, but they use different aging approaches. Piedra uses French Limousin and American oak for four years with no secondary finish. Burdeos uses American and French oak then adds a Bordeaux wine barrel finish. Piedra is defined by its tahona-only production and pure oak aging; Burdeos is defined by its Bordeaux wine barrel finishing and wine-influenced complexity.
