Green Spot is a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, a rare style made from a mix of malted and unmalted barley. Like most traditional Irish whiskeys, it is triple-distilled in copper pot stills, which gives it a smooth and rounded character. The whiskey is produced by Irish Distillers at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork and marketed by the historic wine and spirits merchant Mitchell & Son.
It matures in a combination of ex-Bourbon barrels and Oloroso Sherry casks, with about 25% aged in sherry casks. This mix adds layers of fruit, spice, and warmth while keeping the flavor balanced. The whiskey has no age statement (NAS) but typically includes spirits aged between seven and ten years, and it is bottled at 40% ABV.
The name “Green Spot” comes from the old Mitchell family tradition of marking casks with colored spots to show their age, with green representing the 10-year-old whiskey. Part of the famous “Spot” family, it sits alongside Yellow Spot, Red Spot, and Blue Spot.
