Laphroaig 15 Year Old 1999 Vintage Islay single malt Scotch whisky. Single refill butt #10273 bottled March 2014 by Douglas Laing & Co. for the Old Particular series.
Laphroaig Distillery was established in 1815 on the rocky south coast of the Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland. Laphroaig is a malt whisky distillery which continues to malt barley using its traditional malting floors and malt kiln. In 1994 Laphroaig was awarded the Royal Warrant. Visitors are welcomed at the Laphroaig Distillery visitor centre where distillery tours are available. Laphroaig Distillery participates in Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Malt and Music.
Nose: Distinctly Islay & maritime – oily rags, tarry ropes + a ship’s engine room.
Palate: Mouth coating – an explosion of peat + smoked ham & sweet bonfire ashes.
Finish: Long – still tarry + soot & ashes + a salted butter on burnt toast character.
