MACKMYRA MANDO DIAO - I SOLNEDGÃ…NGEN

Forget the band association and look at this stunning single cask release for what it is - a great tasting single cask whisky for what is now a cracking price. Limited release of 396 bottles Mackmyra has created a collector’s edition together with the Swedish band Mando Diao’s, called I solnedgången Single Cask whisky. The collaboration celebrates uncompromising craftsmanship and Swedish tones and notes in terms of both flavour and music. The edition is part of Mackmyra’s Private Cask selection, and the band has chosen a whisky with a smoky recipe matured in a 200-litre ex-bourbon cask. The name of the edition is taken from the band’s new album “I solnedgången”, which was released on 12/6 and went straight into the Sweden charts, where it has topped several categories and been acclaimed across the board by the Swedish media. Nose: A bonfire kind of smokiness is slightly infused with a hint of juniper, sweet vanilla and salted toffee notes. Palate: Smoky oak barrels with aromas of vanilla and almond, and hints of mint. Finish: An amazingly long aftertaste of sweet smoky vanilla and almonds.
