Organic St John's Wort - Loose Leaf Botanical

Saint John’s Wort, or Hypericum perforatum, is a perennial plant native to Europe. The plant is widely considered to be a weed, and may also be referred to as goatweed. Its vivid yellow flowers are harvested in June, around Saint John’s Day (6/24), and transformed into teas, tinctures and more. St John’s Wort has been used as an herbal remedy since the Middle Ages. It was originally believed to be a protective plant and was used as a holy herb. 

St John’s Wort may promote a sense of calm and well-being by providing nervous system support. Hypericin, and hyperforin, which naturally occur in St John’s Wort have achieved promising status for therapeutic applications in recent years.* When brewed as tea, it has a slightly herbal and bitter taste so it is often paired with other calming herbs like Lemon Balm or Ashwagandha. It is important to note that while taking St John’s Wort, you must avoid exposure to strong sunlight and phytotherapy. St John’s Wort may interact with certain medications including SSRI’s so it is important to consult your physician before use.
