Ron Flor de Caña 12 year is an ultra premium rum produced by the widely celebrated rum producer Flor de Cana. Deep in the heart of South America in remote Nicaragua, this golden rum is made from locally grown sugarcane and utilizes a number of local ingredients such as fruit, honey, toasted nuts, and is aged in South American white oak barrels.
The spirit is distilled in a continuous column still process and is then left to age in spiced barrels, seasoned and coated with previous batches of whiskey and bourbon. Ron Flor de Caña is a full-bodied amber rum that is reminiscent of many other molasses type rums; the dominant flavor profiles in the spirit are red fruits, honey, and toasted nuts with a woody aftertaste of vanilla and aged oak. The drink can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks and works well for a mixed drink or with a dash of carbonated water.
