Set as a parody to Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Christmas Spirit is a humorous look at a full-length church drama production based on a modern-day Christian Scrooge who wants to spread the meaning of Christmas but goes about it all wrong. Neezer is an angry, pushy Christian who believes the only way to help people understand the true meaning of Christmas is to yell at them or “shove” it down their throats. As a result, most of the town hides when Neezer comes around. Only a visit from the Spirit and advice from Neezer’s family can help Neezer realize the true meaning of Christmas doesn’t include anger and force, but peace, love, and mercy. This play is age and gender versatile. Minimal costuming and simple staging is needed. However, it is best suited to four (4) scenes that remain in-tact while the characters move through the staging as if they are moving through the town.
