Los Altos is a town in the Jalisco Highlands (Los Altos de Jalisco) where tequila has a
rich tradition and history. The Productos Finos de Agave distillery is located in these
Jalisco Highlands in a small town called Jesus Maria.
The red volcanic soils and abundant sunshine in this region are perfectly suited
for growing the finest blue weber agave. The region of Jalisco’s highlands is well
recognized for having the best blue Agave (always more expensive than others in the
region). Agaves that are grown in this highlands area are larger and sweeter in
aroma and taste. (By contrast, lowland tequilas are more herbaceous).
