As passionate botanist, Henri Ducourt knew how to scout out the finest terroir in Bordeaux' Entre-Deux-Mers. In 1965, he began to buy plots of vines near the village of Romagne on a remarkable clay-limestone plateau. Over the years he built up a great estate between A La Rose and le Pin de Cornet, which today is now Chateau La Rose du Pin.
The vineyard is 118 acres farmed sustainably and planted with about half and half Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. De-budding, leaf thinning and green harvest are carried out. After harvest, the grapes are cold-soaked for 24-48 hours. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with maceration over 3 weeks. The wine was aged in both oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.
